Our Mission
To understand and, if validated, address the most pressing shopping safety challenges facing Kenyan consumers through research-driven, community-informed solutions.
Our Core Values
These principles guide every step of our research initiative.
Evidence-Based
We let data, not assumptions, guide our decisions and conclusions.
User-Centric
Consumer experiences and needs are at the core of our research process.
Transparency
We share our methodology, findings, and reasoning openly with the public.
Adaptive
We are prepared to pivot or stop if the evidence doesn't support our initial direction.
Where We Are Now
Research First, Build Second
We believe in making data-driven decisions. Instead of assuming we have the right solution, we are starting with foundational research to understand the depth and breadth of shopping scams in Kenya. Our process involves gathering data, analyzing patterns, and only then making an evidence-based decision on whether a technological solution is viable and necessary.
Our Transparency Commitment
We commit to sharing our findings publicly, whether they support building Soomoja or not. If the data shows the problem isn't significant enough for a new solution, we'll publish that conclusion. Our goal is to contribute to a safer shopping ecosystem, regardless of the outcome.
